As the 4th Annual Santa Claus Rally becomes a celebrated memory for all of us in The High Octane South Jersey it is important to take pause and express some sincere gratitude to those who helped to make this past Saturday’s event another milestone for our community of enthusiasts.
Since High Octane South Jersey began, Tony Papaneri (Orange McLaren) and his family have been there fueling our momentum and selflessly contributing to our toy drive efforts above and beyond anyone’s wildest expectations.
Jim Donohue (BMW 2002, BMW Z3) is HOSJ’s enthusiastic ambassador to the local collector car community. Jim is always eager to chat up our Saturday meets with new collector car owners and is a leading contributor in making sure the Rally runs smoothly, helping to iron out any details along the way.
Together, Jim and Tony are at the core making our Rally and HOSJ possible.
Once again Jim Hill ( Porsche Boxster/ 944 ) deserves a huge debt of gratitude for working with his longtime friend George Sabol, a retired NJSP Major in setting up our annual State Police Escort. Our thanks to the Hills must however go one step further to Jim’s daughter Chelsey who never fails as our beloved Frosty!
Next we have to thank Mike Cashen (C6 Corvette) who makes it his mission each Saturday morning to take some of the best Cars and Coffee shots around and Steve Lefever (Maserati Quattroporte) another all-star photographer and HOSJ contributor, who along with Mike, made it their business to capture all of the 2016 Rally in beautiful detail.
We owe further thanks to Steve Lanson (X5 M / M3 / 67 Vette) who supported HOSJ at every opportunity from his generous contributions to our toy acquisition efforts on to his support in helping to shuttle all of our weekly toy collections to their storage facility. On the same note, we have to thank Dominic D (Ferrari 575/ 430) for his own generosity in helping to make sure it would be another banner year for our gifting efforts!
2016 also brought out some newcomers to help advance our effort as well, while their last names are not at the tip of my tongue, I want to thank Viper Fred for his volunteering to haul the toys in style with Ram this year and Endo Lou ( Midyear Vette/ Mercedes/ Roush Mustang), who week after week gave us toy after toy! Thanks gentlemen it has been great getting to know you!!!
Special thanks should also go out to:
The Original Garden State Corvette Club who was kind enough to let this year’s stash of toys be transported in their custom trailer.
Our wonderful friends at the Carz N’ Toyz Organization who generously supported and helped promote our event. PLEASE SUPPORT THEM BY ATTENDING THEIR ANNUAL EVENT THIS SATURDAY AT CAFÉ ALDO ON RT70 IN CHERRY HILL STARTING AT 9:00!!! – More details coming soon.
Everyone who supported our T Shirt Fundraising effort this year. You helped us beat our record!
Last but not least, I want to thank my wife Sylvia my darling little Annabella who were incredibly patient during our planning and organizing of the event! Plus, they never said a word even as hundreds of toys turned into thousands of toys piling up in our basement!!!!
This is the most amazing group of people I know! Each year, more and more, this community becomes the living embodiment of the spirit of Christmas!
